LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alicia Shaver upon the occasion of being
named the 2013-2014 Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within this state who have made strong
contributions to their communities and who serve as role models for
their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alicia Shaver upon the occasion of being named the 2013-2014 Ogdensburg
Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is the highest honor a Boys and Girls
Club member can receive, and recognizes Alicia Shaver's outstanding
contributions to her family, school, community and to the Ogdensburg
Boys and Girls Club; and
WHEREAS, An 11th grader at Ogdensburg Free Academy and a member of the
Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club for 10 years, Alicia Shaver has served as
a peer-to-peer mentor in the club's mentoring program; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she has been active in the Boys and Girls Club's
leagues, character development program and field trips; and
WHEREAS, Alicia Shaver also participates in her school's varsity
soccer and softball teams; and
WHEREAS, Alicia Shaver was chosen as the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls
Club 2013-2014 Youth of the Year based on her participation in club
activities and her volunteer work both in the Boys and Girls Club and in
her community; and
WHEREAS, A hard worker with a true dedication to her school work,
Alicia Shaver has earned the respect of both the Boys and Girls Club
staff as well as her fellow members; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Alicia Shaver continued success throughout her school years
and beyond; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alicia Shaver upon the occasion of being named the 2013-2014
Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alicia Shaver.
