LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Atlantic Avenue Local Develop-
ment Corporation upon the occasion of hosting its 40th Annual Atlantic
Antic on September 28, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of the cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation upon the occasion
of hosting its 40th Annual Atlantic Antic on Sunday, September 28, 2014;
and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corpo-
ration (AALDC) is to further economic development, historic preserva-
tion, and cultural enrichment on Atlantic Avenue, in Brooklyn, New York,
from Fourth Avenue to the Waterfront and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, The AALDC provides information, advocacy, and produces events
and projects that promote economic growth and vitality, for the preser-
vation and development of the local community; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Atlantic Antic, presented by the AALDC, will bring
together thousands of people to Atlantic Avenue to celebrate the tradi-
tion of food, art, music, shopping, festivities, and fun; and
WHEREAS, The Atlantic Antic is a living tribute to the myriad of
heritages that coexist in Brooklyn; spanning four neighborhoods from
Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue, the Atlantic Antic is one of the largest
street festivals in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Atlantic Avenue is transformed into a sea of entertainment;
comprised of local and national vendors intertwined with the offerings
of trendy restaurants and boutiques, the Atlantic Antic features live
music stages which showcase free performances from various cultural
genres; and
WHEREAS, In addition, families can enjoy kid friendly activities such
as pony rides, storytelling, and face painting; and
WHEREAS, Best known for its eclectic delicacies, the Atlantic Antic
highlights an array of food from around the world; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend events which symbolize the historical, social and cultural
development of this great State and embody the spirit of the principles
upon which this Nation was founded; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation upon the
occasion of hosting its 40th Annual Atlantic Antic on September 28,
2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation.
