LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Brian Savitch upon the occasion of his
induction into the Jewish Community Center Athletic Hall of Fame on June
1, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Brian Savitch upon the occasion of his induction into the Jewish Commu-
nity Center Athletic Hall of Fame, to be celebrated on Sunday, June 1,
2014, at the Jewish Community Center, Vestal, New York; and
WHEREAS, A true mensch in every sense of the word, Brian Savitch is
being recognized with this esteemed honor for his remarkable athletic
and civic achievements; and
WHEREAS, With a lifetime of involvement and commitment to the Jewish
Community Center (JCC) and HOF Committee, Brian Savitch was a multi-
sport standout athlete at Binghamton High School and at the University
of Pennsylvania; he has maintained his involvement in sports throughout
his adult life to the present day; and
WHEREAS, Brian Savitch played basketball at the JCC under the coaching
tutelage of his father, and in later years served as the coach for his
sons; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his multiple athletic achievements, Brian
Savitch has also been a committed volunteer and leader in the Binghamton
Jewish community; a former President of the JCC, his tireless efforts
and devotion has enabled the College of Jewish Studies to become a huge
community success; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Brian Savitch has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Brian Savitch for his
extraordinary accomplishments which are a tribute to his skill, dedi-
cation and commitment; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Brian Savitch upon the occasion of his induction into the Jewish
Community Center Athletic Hall of Fame on June 1, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brian Savitch.
