LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks of New Hope
Baptist Church upon the occasion of celebrating his 25th Pastoral Anni-
versary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recogni-
tion and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend Dr.
Paul S. Hicks of New Hope Baptist Church, upon the occasion of celebrat-
ing his 25th Pastoral Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of City College of New York, this esteemed man
received a Master of Arts in Divinity from New Brunswick Theological
Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree in 1999 from New York
Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Ordained in 1987, Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks was called to be
pastor at the New Hope Baptist Church in 1989, where he has served the
spiritual needs of the church community for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks has been called upon to contribute
his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Committed to helping his fellow man, Reverend Dr. Paul S.
Hicks was involved in missions of service to such countries as Russia,
Haiti, Cuba, and has actively worked in the Prison Ministry at Green
State Prison, Riker's Island Correctional Facility, and Arthur Kill
Correctional Facility; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Reverend Hicks has taught for many years at the
Eastern Baptist Association and participates at the Brooklyn District
Attorney's Office, as well as with many other civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Debra Hicks, their
two children, Shauna Hicks and Jamie Hicks, and one grandchild, Brielle
Lester, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks of New Hope Baptist Church, upon the
occasion of celebrating his 25th Pastoral Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Dr. Paul S. Hicks.
