LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stefan J. Kalogridis upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the AHEPAN of the Year Award by the
American Hellenic Educational and Progressive Association on June 3,
2014
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Stefan J. Kalogridis has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Stefan J.
Kalogridis upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
AHEPAN of the Year Award by the American Hellenic Educational and
Progressive Association, which was celebrated on Tuesday, June 3, 2014,
at the Saint Sophia Community Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Stefan J. Kalogridis, owner of Colvin Wine Merchants, has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, A member of the American Hellenic Educational and Progressive
Association (AHEPA) since 2003, Stefan J. Kalogridis was President of
the Albany Chapter #140 for three years, and was also Secretary of
District 6 (NY State); in addition he was the organizer of the first
"Greek Day" at the State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, A member of numerous civic and professional organizations,
this esteemed man has served on the boards of American Beverage Licenses
and the New York State Liquor Association, where he also served as Pres-
ident for seven years; and
WHEREAS, Stefan J. Kalogridis is the co-Founder of The Last Store On
Main Street, an organization which advocates for small businesses;
furthermore, he has worked to protect our youth from underage drinking
and has raised awareness of products which constitute new dangers to our
youth; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and honors for his outstand-
ing service, Stefan J. Kalogridis has been recognized with the 2014
Brown-Forman National Retailer of the Year Award, the 2013 Presidential
Award and the 2009 NY State Liquor Store Association Distinguished
Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Stefan J. Kalogridis has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Nelli, and their two
sons, Alexander and Nicholas, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stefan J. Kalogridis has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stefan J. Kalogridis upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the AHEPAN of the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stefan J. Kalogridis.
