LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tony Iadicicco upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Norman S. Rice Arts, Culture and Educa-
tion Award by the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District on June
13, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Tony Iadicicco has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Tony Iadicicco
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Norman S. Rice
Arts, Culture and Education Award by the Downtown Albany Business
Improvement District, to be celebrated at its Sculpture in the Streets
Garden Party, Keys to the City event on Friday, June 13, 2014, in Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is named in recognition of the legacy
of Norman S. Rice to the cultural and educational landscape of the Capi-
tal Region Arts, and honors an individual for their own lasting contrib-
utions to arts, culture and education for the local community; and
WHEREAS, Honorees, such as Tony Iadicicco, demonstrate significant
accomplishment in exposing the arts to a public audience in their role
either as arts advocate, as an artist themselves, or as an art educator;
and
WHEREAS, Tony Iadicicco has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, As Executive Director since 2011, Tony Iadicicco has been the
driving force behind Albany Center Gallery's continuing growth as the
region's premier art gallery; and
WHEREAS, Under the vision and leadership of Tony Iadicicco, Albany
Center Gallery has become a vital part of the area's cultural landscape,
showing the work of hundreds of local artists while expanding its
outreach into the community; and
WHEREAS, Tony Iadicicco has developed new partnerships with Capital
Repertory Theatre, area schools, and other local organizations, engaging
an ever-growing number of artists, students, businesses and community
members in the gallery's mission to promote local art and enrich the
region as a whole; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Tony Iadicicco also currently serves as a Board
Member of the Albany Barn, an organization dedicated to providing a
sustainable creative arts incubator and community arts center in Arbor
Hill, a place for artists to live, work and inspire; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Tony Iadicicco has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Tony Iadicicco has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tony Iadicicco upon the occasion of his designation as recipient

of the Norman S. Rice Arts, Culture and Education Award by the Downtown
Albany Business Improvement District on June 13, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tony Iadicicco.
