LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Dutchess
County Tourism

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by its
exceptional governmental, cultural, educational and recreational facili-
ties and institutions; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body that insti-
tutions and facilities that give positive definition to the profile and
disposition of the communities of the State of New York profoundly
strengthen our society with their commitment; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 30th Anniversary of Dutchess County Tourism; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1984, Dutchess County Tourism (DCT) is the
officially designated destination marketing organization for the County,
bringing in tourism to area businesses by marketing and promoting the
assets of Dutchess County to the Nation and the World; and
WHEREAS, Through its use of external marketing, promotions and public-
ity, DCT has been instrumental in bringing individuals from across the
Nation to the beautiful Dutchess County; and
WHEREAS, In addition, DCT is responsible for hospitality training,
tourist information centers and advocacy programs, as well as distrib-
ution of its publications and Calendar of Events including the Tourism
Conference, Travel Writers' Conferences, Holiday of Lights Reception,
and National Tourism Week; and
WHEREAS, Dutchess County Tourism is New York State's Division of
Tourism's "I Love New York" matching funds partner and a partner in
Hudson Valley Tourism, Inc. in their regional marketing programs; DCT is
also a division of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation;
and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Dutchess County
Tourism; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions, institutions and facilities of such noble aims and accomplish-
ments are brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Dutchess County Tourism; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dutchess County Tourism.
