LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Wappingers Play Group upon the occa-
sion of celebrating its 60th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Wappingers Play Group upon the occasion of celebrating its 60th Anniver-
sary; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1954, Wappingers Play Group is a non-profit
organization with a mission to provide traditional early childhood expe-
rience in an environment where children can learn and have fun; and
WHEREAS, Wappingers Play Group was founded by Mrs. Melvin Engleman, a
mother who began the program with seven children; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Wappingers Play Group expanded to serve the
needs of its rural community with the belief that children learn best
through discovery and experimentation; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed school is governed by a Board of Directors
composed of professionals in the community who share a commitment to
providing the best possible in education; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, Wappingers Play
Group has demonstrated the value of early childhood education in shaping
and developing young minds for the benefit of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Wappingers Play Group upon the occasion of celebrating its 60th
Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wappingers Play Group.
