LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows,
Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating its 10th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows, Inc. upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 10th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2004, Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows,
Inc. (GET) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote
economic development from the bottom up in the underserved urban and
rural areas across the Mid-Hudson Valley Region of New York State; and
WHEREAS, GET is a free service which helps foster entrepreneurship
among women, low income and minority groups; it works to fill the gap in
existing services by providing assistance at the basic early stages of
the business ladder, the germination period where ideas are formed; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed foundation was formed out of a study done by
Marist College School of Management and Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress,
with funding from The Dyson Foundation; the study identified the need
for an organization rooted in the community it serves which would help
in advancing the economic development of the region; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 10 years, GET has offered extensive services to
its members including micro-loans, the Hudson Youth Entrepreneurial
Program and access to the financial resource network and database, as
well as mentorship programs; it has helped numerous small businesses get
their start; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, GET has demon-
strated the value of supporting entrepreneurship among the underserved
for the economic benefit of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and associations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows, Inc. upon the occasion of
celebrating its 10th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows, Inc.
