LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Stanford Grange No. 808 upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Distinguished
Grange Award from the National Grange
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Stanford Grange No. 808 upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Grange Award from the National
Grange; and
WHEREAS, The Grange is a nonpartisan organization which gives its
members the opportunity to serve their neighborhoods through community
service projects that make a difference in the lives of its citizens;
and
WHEREAS, At the 146th Annual National Grange Convention, Stanford
Grange No. 808 was recognized and honored with the 2014 Distinguished
Grange Award; and
WHEREAS, In order to be selected, a Community Grange must fulfill
requirements established by the National Grange, some of which include a
net gain in membership, sending delegates to the New York State Grange
Session and another event hosted by the National Grange; it must also
host at least two community service/educational events, send quarterly
reports to the State Grange on time, and host a legislative event; and
WHEREAS, Stanford Grange No. 808 was organized in Bangall, Town of
Stanford, New York, on January 23, 1896, with 18 Charter Members; and
WHEREAS, For 118 years, the Stanford Grange has worked to advance the
interests of its fellow citizens in its community by providing a legis-
lative voice and by showing them how to strengthen the town through
community service; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed organization is active in numerous service
projects and fundraisers for the support of area residents and the
betterment of civic life; and
WHEREAS, The Stanford Grange is the largest and most active Grange in
Dutchess County; it continues to fulfill the needs of its community
while promoting and upholding American values and small town roots; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Stanford Grange No. 808 upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Grange Award from the National
Grange; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stanford Grange No. 808.
