LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Ardsley Pi-thons Lego Team
upon the occasion of capturing the FIRST Lego League North American
Championship Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their educa-
tional endeavors and competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
our majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in scholastic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Ardsley School District Pi-thons upon the occasion of capturing
the FIRST Lego League North American Championship Award on Sunday, May
18, 2014, in San Diego, California; and
WHEREAS, The FIRST Lego League challenges students to build Lego-based
robots while completing tasks based on a theme; and
WHEREAS, Participation in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of
Science and Technology) Lego League events affords students the opportu-
nity to apply real-world math and science concepts as well as develop
critical thinking, time management and presentation skills; in addition,
students learn to work as a group using collaboration and effective
communication; and
WHEREAS, The Ardsley Pi-thons Lego Team captured the 2014 FIRST Lego
League North American Championship thanks to their hard work and dedi-
cation; and
WHEREAS, Along the way, the Pi-thons came in second place overall at
the Hudson Valley Championship, with a first place finish in core values
based on their ability to work together; in addition, the team placed
the highest score in Hudson Valley history for robotics; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach Rajat Goel, and teachers David Chason and
Dave Ponterio, skilled and inspirational tutors, respected for their
ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Ardsley Pi-thons Lego Team include: Neha
Goel, Liana Patel, Kruti Sutaria, Isha Brambhatt and Jainil Sutaria;
their outstanding performance has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their schools and communi-
ty; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Ardsley Pi-thons Lego Team upon the occasion of captur-
ing the FIRST Lego League North American Championship Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Ardsley Pi-thons Lego Team, and the afore-
mentioned coaches.
