LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Giuseppe Libertella and Santo Beddia,
owners of B&L Bakery, upon the occasion of their retirement after 33
years of extraordinary service to the community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize illustri-
ous small business owners who have positively impacted and substantially
contributed to the vitality of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Giuseppe Libertella and Santo Beddia, owners of B&L Bakery, upon the
occasion of their retirement after 33 years of extraordinary service to
the people of Rome, New York on Sunday, June 15, 2014; and
WHEREAS, A landmark within its community, B&L Bakery has for many
years been a well-known and much-loved establishment frequented by
people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Both immigrants from Sicily, Giuseppe Libertella and Santo
Beddia started B&L Bakery in 1981; and
WHEREAS, For over three decades, these esteemed bakers and brothers-
in-law dedicated themselves to making the finest products and providing
the best customer service to their patrons; and
WHEREAS, Giuseppe Libertella and Santo Beddia were renowned for their
baking skills and for such specialties as their pizza shells, tomato
pies, and Easter bread; they proudly offered the freshest bread, and
never used preservatives; and
WHEREAS, Throughout their years as small business owners, these
remarkable men have earned the admiration, esteem and affection of the
people of Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of civic life and have shown along
and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recog-
nition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Giuseppe Libertella and Santo Beddia, owners of B&L Bakery, upon
the occasion of their retirement after 33 years of extraordinary service
to the community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Giuseppe Libertella and Santo Beddia.
