LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Father John Buehler upon the occasion
of celebrating the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood
on May 18, 2014
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Father John Buehler upon the occasion of celebrating the 40th Anniver-
sary of his Ordination to the Priesthood on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at
Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, Father John Buehler was raised in St. Stephen's Parish in
Oriskany, New York; he graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School
prior to attending seminary at Wadhams Hall, Our Lady of Angels and
Christ the King; and
WHEREAS, Father John Buehler was ordained to the priesthood on May 18,
1974, and appointed Associate Pastor at St. Matthew's Parish; and
WHEREAS, In 1978, Father John Buehler was appointed Associate Pastor
of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal, New York; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man also served at St. Therese Parish before
going on sabbatical at Fordham University; following his sabbatical, he
was appointed associate pastor at St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville in
1987; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Father John Buehler became director of pastoral care
at the Loretto Geriatric Center in Syracuse and was also named pastor
for St. John's Parish in Utica; and
WHEREAS, Father John Buehler was next appointed as pastor of St. Fran-
cis de Sales in 1993, and after 2006, became the pastor of the merged
parishes of St. Francis de Sales and St. John's; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporeal needs
of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated are recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Father John Buehler upon the occasion of celebrating the 40th
Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood, fully confident that
this commemoration reflects the belief in those values which enhance the
dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father John Buehler.
