LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Timothy Zeszutek upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for
Teaching Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Timo-
thy Zeszutek upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff, campus-
es, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have demonstrated
extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Orange; Timothy Zeszutek is
one such individual; and
WHEREAS, In Fall of 2009, Timothy Zeszutek, professor of criminal
justice, joined the full-time faculty at SUNY Orange, having previously
served as an adjunct instructor teaching criminalistics; and
WHEREAS, Teaching primarily at SUNY Orange's Newburgh campus, Timothy
Zeszutek instructs nearly all of the criminal justice students enrolled
in the degree program, and serves as advisor to the criminal justice
student club; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining the College's faculty ranks full-time, Timo-
thy Zeszutek completed more than 20 years of service with the New York
State Police; he rose through the ranks from trooper to investigator,
and was later promoted to the rank of sergeant; and
WHEREAS, For the last 12 years, Timothy Zeszutek was assigned as a
crime scene investigator with a forensic investigations unit; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Zeszutek holds many certifications from the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the
Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the New
York State Department of Criminal Justice Services; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Timothy Zeszutek has provided expert witness
testimony in both criminal and civil cases, and possesses extensive
knowledge and certifications in investigations involving terrorism,
weapons of mass destruction, and clandestine drug laboratories; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Timothy Zeszutek has instructed various courses
to local police, and has instructed at both the Orange County and New
York State police academies; and
WHEREAS, Following his service in the United States Marine Corps.,
Timothy Zeszutek obtained his associate's degree in social science from
SUNY Orange, a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Mercy
College, and a master's degree in public administration from Marist
College; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of individuals such as Timothy Zeszutek, who, by providing their
skills and talents to our schools, work to support our proud tradition
of public education; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Zeszutek has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of SUNY Orange, as well as on the community-at-large, and accord-
ingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedication to
others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Timothy Zeszutek upon the occasion of his designation as recipient

of the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Timothy Zeszutek.
