LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Samuel Plank upon the occasion of his
designation as a recipient of the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior
Scholar Athlete Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Samuel Plank
upon the occasion of his designation as a recipient of the 2014 Mid-Hud-
son Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award, which was celebrated
on May 28, 2014, at its 16th Annual Recognition Breakfast; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Samuel Plank has distinguished
himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Plank, a student at Rondout Senior High School in
Accord, New York, is ranked 4th in his class, and has participated in
Varsity soccer, tennis and alpine skiing for three years; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Plank is active in National Honor Society, student
forum, chorus and vocal jazz; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Plank plans to attend Harvard University and major in
biology; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Samuel Plank
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Plank may stand with pride in his achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Plank represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Samuel Plank upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award, and to
wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Samuel Plank.
