LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Onnika Gullickson upon the occasion of
her designation as a recipient of the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League
Senior Scholar Athlete Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Onnika
Gullickson upon the occasion of her designation as a recipient of the
2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award, which was
celebrated on May 28, 2014, at its 16th Annual Recognition Breakfast;
and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Onnika Gullickson has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Onnika Gullickson, a student at Rondout High School in
Accord, New York, is ranked 5th in her class, and has participated in
Varsity Nordic Ski for five years, Varsity Cross Country for four years,
and Varsity Spring Track for five years; and
WHEREAS, Captain of her Cross Country, Nordic Ski, and Track Teams,
Onnika Gullickson is involved in her high school newspaper, and received
the University of Vermont Presidential Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Onnika Guilickson plans to attend the University of Vermont
Honors College, and major in English/Literature; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Onnika Gullick-
son has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Onnika Gullickson may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Onnika Gullickson represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Onnika Gullickson upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award,
and to wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Onnika Gullickson.
