LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending H.R. Wilson Memorial upon the occasion
of hosting its annual H.R. Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament on June
28-29, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
H.R. Wilson Memorial upon the occasion of hosting its annual H.R.
Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament on June 28-29, 2014, at Wells College
golf course in Aurora, New York; and
WHEREAS, The opening ceremony, on Saturday, June 28, 2014, will be
held to honor and to individually recognize local veterans in attendance
at the event; during the ceremony, American Legion Post 1107, Union
Springs, will perform the military portion, and a new flag pole will be
dedicated; and
WHEREAS, The H.R. Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament seeks to raise funds
for Homes For Our Troops USA; and
WHEREAS, Since 2009, H.R. Wilson Memorial has supported Homes For Our
Troops USA, the mission of which is to build specially adapted homes for
service members who have been severely injured in combat operations
since September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, All homes are built at no cost to the veteran through the
generous support of individuals, foundations and corporate contributors
and, to date, more than 158 veterans have been able to regain their
freedom and independence through the gift of a fully accessible home,
built according to their individual needs; and
WHEREAS, H.R. Wilson was a highly decorated World War II
fighter/bomber pilot; in supporting service members through Homes For
Our Troops, H.R. Wilson Memorial truly honors his legacy of service; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend H.R. Wilson Memorial upon the occasion of hosting its annual
H.R. Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to H.R. Wilson Memorial.
