LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barry Cole upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Citizen of the Years Award by the
Sidney Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Barry Cole upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014
Citizen of the Years Award by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce, to be
celebrated at its annual dinner on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Sacred
Heart Banquet Hall in Sidney, New York; and
WHEREAS, A volunteer firefighter with over 20 years of service, Barry
Cole has throughout his life, strived to make Sidney a safer and happier
place to live; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A member of several non-profit boards, Barry Cole is also
known for his work with young people, and for serving on the Sidney
Revitalization Committee; he is committed to working for the betterment
of his community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barry Cole has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barry Cole has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals such as Barry Cole are brought to our attention it is appropriate
to publicly proclaim and commend them for the edification and emulation
of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barry Cole upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Citizen of the Years Award by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barry Cole.
