LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring George Ferone upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Wakpominee Good Scout Award for
Community Service on May 7, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, George Ferone has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor George Ferone
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Wakpominee
Good Scout Award for Community Service on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the
Six Flags Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 43 years, George Ferone has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Tribune Media Services; he is
currently Executive Director, and has held many other positions with the
company; and
WHEREAS, George Ferone has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, George Ferone has participated in many organ-
izations in his local area; he is on the board of trustees for the Glens
Falls Hospital Foundation, member of the Glens Falls Rotary Club, lector
and parish trustee for Our Lady of Annunciation Church RC, and member of
the Town of Queensbury Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he has previously held positions in several
other organizations, including Boy Scouts of America Troop 16 in Queens-
bury; and
WHEREAS, George Ferone has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades for his selfless commitment to community service, including
the ARCC Blue Chip Award and Chairman's Award, the Big Brothers Big
Sisters Annual Mentor Award, and Most Valuable Player Award by the Asso-
ciation of Contingency Planners; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, George Ferone has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 36 years, Carol
Ann, their two children, and three grandchildren, all of whom feel priv-
ileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which George Ferone has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor George Ferone upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Wakpominee Good Scout Award for Community Service on May 7,
2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to George Ferone.
