LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commen-
dation Award at the 38th Annual New York State Police Awards Day Ceremo-
ny on May 7, 2014

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those who preserve and protect such values, lauding particularly their
unwavering courage and dedication in the daily performance of their
duties; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold will receive the award in
recognition of his outstanding police work at the 38th Annual New York
State Police Superintendent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony, to
be held at the New York State Police Academy in Albany, New York, on
Wednesday, May 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, In May, 2012, Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold was assigned to
assist the Seneca County Sheriff's Office with an investigation into the
2008 death of a 23-year old man; a tip given to police claimed that the
man's death was not accidental, but a homicide; and
WHEREAS, For over one and a half years, Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold
worked diligently on this important case, helping secure a confession by
the young man's father, who had committed the crime in order to collect
on an insurance policy he had taken out; and
WHEREAS, During the interview, this esteemed trooper also obtained
information which implicated the accused in the 1991 death of his wife
in the state of California; and
WHEREAS, Due to the skill, professionalism, and attention to detail
displayed by Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold, a violent criminal was
convicted of murder, and the loved ones of the victims were able to find
some measure of comfort, knowing that justice will prevail; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the New York State
Police, Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold has distinguished himself by his
exemplary achievement and outstanding performance on behalf of the
community he so faithfully and courageously serves; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of public servants, such as Investi-
gator Jeffery T. Arnold, who unselfishly devote their lives to the pres-
ervation of order and the protection of others are worthy of the full
praise of this Legislative Body and the people of the State of New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Investigator Jeffery T. Arnold.
