LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Livonia High School Varsity Football
Coach Steve Girolmo upon the occasion of his retirement after 28 distin-
guished years in coaching

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend notable
athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State, and who
have distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding
commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Livonia High School Varsity Football Coach Steve Girolmo upon the occa-
sion of his retirement after 28 distinguished years in coaching; and
WHEREAS, For the past 28 years, Coach Steve Girolmo has mentored and
guided young athletes to success on and off the field, following the
slogan, "Prepare to Win for Life"; and
WHEREAS, Steve Girolmo attended Gates-Chili High School and is a grad-
uate of the State University of New York at Cortland, where he played
offensive line; from a young age, he desired to be a physical education
teacher and head football coach; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Coach Steve Girolmo began his coaching career at
Livonia High School, and has established his own tradition of excellence
ever since; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has an outstanding record of 150 wins,
three Section V Championships, and four Livingston County titles,
including this past year's LCAA D-1 title; and
WHEREAS, Coach Steve Girolmo excelled in his positions as teacher,
head coach, and athletic director, building strong connections with
players, fellow coaches, and the entire community in Livonia; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Coach Steve Girolmo has educated and
touched the lives of countless student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Coach Steve Girolmo was especially
known for the positive impact he had on the lives of those he coached;
he constantly strove to instill the values of honesty, integrity, lead-
ership, and hard work, using teachable moments to prepare his players
for success in the game of life; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 31 years, Sharon,
his two sons and former quarterbacks, Scott and Matt, and his parents,
George and Phyllis, as well as his sister Laurie and brother-in-law
Larry, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Coach Steve Girolmo's positive demeanor, selfless commitment,
and caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach
and mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his communi-
ty, his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Livonia High School Varsity Football Coach Steve Girolmo upon the
occasion of his retirement after 28 distinguished years in coaching; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Steve Girolmo.
