LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Wanda Ready upon the occasion of her
retirement after 35 years of distinguished service to the Madison Cort-
land ARC Board of Directors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Wanda Ready upon the occasion of her retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the Madison Cortland ARC Board of Directors;
and
WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, Wanda Ready rendered faithful, consci-
entious and valuable service to the Madison Cortland ARC Board of Direc-
tors; and
WHEREAS, Wanda Ready's volunteer career began after her daughter Ruth
was afflicted with a terrible illness which left her developmentally
disabled at a young age; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman became an important advocate for people
with disabilities; she pushed for programs for disabled children in
schools when they were nonexistent, as well as for greater access to
services for disabled adults; and
WHEREAS, Wanda Ready fought for the closure of institutions, and
continues to fight for the rights of all people with intellectual and
other developmental disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her work as a volunteer, Wanda Ready served on
multiple committees for the Board of Directors, and made sure that Madi-
son Cortland ARC was constantly fulfilling its mission of helping those
with special needs; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Wanda Ready was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Madison Cortland ARC Board of
Directors, this remarkable woman earned the admiration, esteem and
affection of her colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Wanda Ready upon the occasion of her retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the Madison Cortland ARC Board of Directors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wanda Ready.
