LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sean Peacock of Midlakes High
School upon the occasion of being named Wrestler of the Year by the
DAILY MESSENGER

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Sean Peacock of Midlakes High School upon the occasion of
being named Wrestler of the Year by the DAILY MESSENGER, Clifton
Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, The son of David and Julie Peacock, Sean Peacock has been a
member of the Midlakes High School Varsity Wrestling team for six years;
and
WHEREAS, This esteemed student-athlete began his wrestling career as a
seventh-grader in the 96 pound weight class, where he competed for three
seasons and won his first Section 5 Class BBB title as a freshman; and
WHEREAS, Sean Peacock next captured the 113 pound weight class title
in in his sophomore year and the 126 pound weight class title in his
junior year; and
WHEREAS, In his senior year, Sean Peacock captured his fourth straight
sectional title at 132 pounds, finishing the season with a 48-2 record
and 37 pins; in addition, he won the Wayne-Finger Lakes League Tourna-
ment and won the Division 2 Super Sectionals for the third time; and
WHEREAS, Sean Peacock has been integral to the success of a Midlakes
High School wrestling program that has won the State Division 2 Team
Championship and State Division 2 Dual Meet Championship; furthermore,
the team captured three straight Finger Lakes East League titles and
three straight Section 5 Class BBB titles; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this remarkable young man is the Midlakes High
School all-time leader in takedowns (337), near-fall 3-pointers (194),
pins (152), wins (256) and team points (1,678.5); he also won his
school's sole individual state championship during his sophomore year;
and
WHEREAS, Sean Peacock will continue his wrestling career next year at
the University of Buffalo, where he will be studying exercise science;
and
WHEREAS, The exemplary performance of Sean Peacock is reflective of
his dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sean Peacock of Midlakes High School upon the occasion of
being named Wrestler of the Year by the DAILY MESSENGER, and to wish him
all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sean Peacock.
