LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charles C. W. Bauder upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the
Geneva Historical Society
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Charles C. W. Bauder has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Charles C. W.
Bauder upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Geneva Historical Society; he will be cele-
brated at the Society's Annual Dinner and Meeting on Thursday, June 26,
2014, at Club 86, in Geneva, New York; and
WHEREAS, Charles Bauder was selected for this prestigious honor in
recognition of his nearly four decades of service, dedication, and many
contributions to the Geneva Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, A native of Geneva, Charles Bauder graduated from Geneva High
School; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hobart College,
and a Master of Savings Banking from Brown University; he served his
country as a member of the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, and was
employed by the Savings Bank of the Finger Lakes from 1971 to 1992; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has been involved with the Geneva Histor-
ical Society since 1976 in multiple leadership and volunteer capacities;
he served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President, and was also a
member of the Board of Trustees, during which service he chaired a high-
ly successful capital campaign that raised significant funds for the
Society's endowment; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Charles Bauder was the Executive Director of the
Geneva Historical Society from 1992 to 2006; under his astute leader-
ship, the organization opened the Mike Weave Tile Museum at Johnston
House, and completed major structural renovation and restoration
projects; in retirement, he continues to volunteer on the Society's
Finance, Audit, and Endowment Committees and to participate in fundrais-
ing efforts; and
WHEREAS, Charles Bauder has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, He is Treasurer of the Geneva Industrial Development Agency,
Honorary Board Member of the Downtown Geneva Business Improvement
District, and Treasurer of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the Linden
Exchange; previous affiliations include the Geneva Chapter of the Red
Cross, the Geneva Public Library, the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce,
and the Geneva Lakefront Development Committee; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Charles Bauder has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Nancy, who feels priv-
ileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Charles C. W. Bauder has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles C. W. Bauder upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Geneva Historical
Society; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Charles C. W. Bauder.
