LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Vincent L. Caraccilo upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the 2013 Father Beatini Memorial
Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in communities across New York State are
reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of individuals who
devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Vincent L. Caraccilo upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2013 Father Beatini Memorial Award to be celebrated at a Mass on
Sunday, September 1, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church, during the St.
Anthony's Italian Festival; and
WHEREAS, The esteemed Father Beatini Memorial Award is bestowed upon
an outstanding citizen of Italian extraction in the Seneca Falls, New
York, community in grateful recognition and appreciation for contrib-
utions to community service and religious activities and for furthering
Italian culture and heritage within the community; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Seneca Falls, New York, Vincent L. Carac-
cilo is the son of the late Dominic and Teresa Caraccilo, one of seven
children; and
WHEREAS, A 1948 graduate of Mynderse Academy, Vincent L. Caraccilo
received his bachelor of science degree and master of science degree
from SUNY at Cortland; and
WHEREAS, Vincent L. Caraccilo also served his country as a member of
the United States Army during the Korean War; he was the recipient of
two medals: the National Defense Medal and World War II Medal of
Occupation/Germany; and
WHEREAS, In 1959, Vincent L. Caraccilo married Jan (Felton); he is the
proud father of two sons, Jonathan B. (Leslie) and Christopher P.; and
WHEREAS, Vincent L. Caraccilo was a teacher and Administrator for West
Irondequoit Schools and Seneca Falls Central; he was a high school
athletic coach for baseball, football and lacrosse; and
WHEREAS, With a strong belief in the community, over the years Vincent
L. Caraccilo was or is a member of the Rotary Club, a charter member of
the Lions Club, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, SMS Club, Amer-
ican Legion, Red Cross Meals on Wheels, Seneca County Health Advisory
Committee, member of the Board of Directors of Seneca County Seniors,
docent at the Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry, St. Anthony's
Festival volunteer, Seneca County Retired Teachers Association, Board of
Directors Creative Choices Child Care, volunteer for the Seneca Falls
Historical Society, Seneca County Early Intervention Coordinating Coun-
cil, Board of Directors, Options for Independence, and an avid Mynderse
Academy Blue Devil fan; and
WHEREAS, Retired from the Seneca Falls Central School District after
33 1/2 years of distinguished service, Vincent L. Caraccilo continues
his support of the school district with the annual Vincent L. Caraccilo
Award presented to an outstanding senior who exemplifies Mynderse Acade-
my values; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Vincent L. Caraccilo upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2013 Father Beatini Memorial Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Vincent L. Caraccilo.
