LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending all First Responders and recognizing
their many compassionate and generous acts that ultimately improve the
quality of life for the communities they serve

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who give
outstanding service to the people of the Empire State and whose extraor-
dinary achievements save the lives of their fellow citizens should be
recognized because their efforts so profoundly strengthen our shared
commitment to family and community life; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
all First Responders and recognize their many compassionate and generous
acts that ultimately improve the quality of life for the communities
they serve; and
WHEREAS, A First Responder is a person whose job entails being the
first on the scene of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, First Responders are able to function in uncommon situations;
and
WHEREAS, First Responders have a basic understanding of stress
response and methods to ensure personal well-being; and
WHEREAS, First Responders function within the scope of care as defined
by state, regional and local regulatory agencies; and
WHEREAS, A tragedy of any kind, whether a natural disaster or a sense-
less catastrophe never leaves the heart of the community; and
WHEREAS, First Responders are there whenever people are at risk; and
WHEREAS, First Responders, in many cases, are volunteers; and
WHEREAS, First Responders play a key role in making a difference in
appalling circumstances; and
WHEREAS, First Responders work "against the grain" when others are
running away from danger; and
WHEREAS, First Responders always make certain that lives are saved;
and
WHEREAS, First Responders do whatever it takes, thereby effecting
extraordinary acts; and
WHEREAS, First Responders have an amazing capacity for courage and
compassion; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body cannot express sufficient gratitude to
those devoted individuals who recognize that the preservation of life is
a sacred responsibility and who make that responsibility their own by
serving as First Responders; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend all First Responders and to recognize their many compassionate
and generous acts that ultimately improve the quality of life for the
communities they serve; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Rockwood, Caroga,
Lasselsville, Meco, and Mayfield.
