LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Flushing Chinese Business Associ-
ation upon the occasion of celebrating its 32nd Anniversary

WHEREAS, On Friday, January 24, 2014, the Flushing Chinese Business
Association will celebrate its 32nd Anniversary of service at its Annual
Dinner at Terrace on the Park; and
WHEREAS, The Flushing Chinese Business Association (FCBA) has helped
to foster harmony and cross-cultural understanding in Queens, the most
ethnically diverse county in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The FCBA and its leaders have served the Flushing business
community with distinction for 32 years and have fostered an appreci-
ation of Chinese culture and heritage throughout Queens; and
WHEREAS, The FCBA has paved the way for other new Chinese Americans to
become successful and adapt to their new home, while maintaining their
Chinese cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, These new Americans have become acclimated to their new home
and have made many contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, January 31, 2014, marks the start of the Year of the Horse in
the Chinese zodiac and people born under this sign are believed to be
hard-working, high-spirited, smart, sophisticated and talented, attri-
butes exemplified by members of the FCBA; and
WHEREAS, These talented and conscientious members of the community
have developed programs and events which enhance commercial and economic
development, promote Asian culture and the arts, and contribute to the
well-being of the large Asian immigrant community through education and
business development; and
WHEREAS, The FCBA has been a major force in the economic revival that
has transformed downtown Flushing into one of the city's most vibrant
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, The Flushing Chinese Business Association is a respected and
significant part of the community and a valuable asset to Queens and New
York City; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Flushing Chinese Business Association upon the occasion of
celebrating its 32nd Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Liu Tee Shu, President, and Peter Tu, Executive Director,
Flushing Chinese Business Association.
