LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Utica
Mutual to be celebrated February 24, 2014

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the economic well-being and interests
of the people of this great Empire State merit the commendation of this
Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business
organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Utica Mutual to be celebrated at its
corporate headquarters in New Hartford, New York, on Monday, February
24, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Utica Mutual, the leading company in the Utica National
Insurance Group, has grown to become one of the top 100 property and
casualty companies in the country; in the last century, they have
provided protection for millions of policyholders in New York and across
the nation; and
WHEREAS, Since 1914, assisting policyholders after a significant loss
remains one of the greatest and most significant accomplishments of
Utica Mutual; this vital company has stood true to its motto- To be
there when called upon, in all ways; and
WHEREAS, Utica Mutual, rated number one by DFS in handling Superstorm
Sandy claims, has offered stable jobs with respectable salaries and
benefits throughout its existence; with approximately 1,000 employees
statewide, and nearly 800 in Oneida County alone, they are an employer
of choice in upstate New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition to helping the economic vitality and development
of the local community with the new construction of their 44,000 square
foot building in Utica, New York, Utica Mutual has donated significantly
to several charitable organizations, some of which include the United
Way, American Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Utica Mutual; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when business
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Utica Mutual to be celebrated
February 24, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Utica Mutual.
