LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kathie Duncan upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2014 J. Walter Juckett Community Service
Award by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Kathie Duncan has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kathie Duncan
of Queensbury, New York, upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award by the Adiron-
dack Regional Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated at its 100th Annual
Awards Banquet at Heritage Hall, Glens Falls Civic Center, on Thursday,
February 6, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Kathie Duncan serves as Regional President of The Adirondack
Trust Company's North Country Region; she was hired in 2007 to facili-
tate the Bank's growth in the Glens Falls, Queensbury, and Lake George
region, and to serve as a member of the Bank's Senior Management Team;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the course of her career, Kathie Duncan has been
responsible for managing a large commercial loan portfolio and supervis-
ing teams of lenders handling local credit relationships with a variety
of business borrowers; and
WHEREAS, Kathie Duncan is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of
Banking, Siena College, and Adirondack Community College; she received
her credit training while in the credit and management training program
at Chemical Bank in New York City from 1983 to 1984; and
WHEREAS, Kathie Duncan is very active in her community serving as a
member of the Board of Governors of Glens Falls Hospital and also on
several committees; she also serves on the Board of Trustees of the
Glens Falls Hospital Foundation and its Executive Committee as Immediate
Past Chair; she is past President of the SUNY Adirondack Foundation and
remains on that board and several committees; she currently serves as a
Board Member of Community Workshop Resources Corp. and previously served
as Board Member and past Board Chair of Community, Work & Independence
where after her years of service she was honored to be named among its
Board Emeritus; and
WHEREAS, In past years, Kathie Duncan has served on the Board of
Directors of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Tri-County
United Way, and the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation; and
WHEREAS, A Paul Harris Fellow member of the Glens Falls Rotary for 20
years, Kathie Duncan has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Kathie Duncan has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Brian, and their
two children, Christopher and Philip, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kathie Duncan has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kathie Duncan upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2014 J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award by the Adirondack
Regional Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kathie Duncan.
