LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Strong Kids
Safe Kids of Chemung County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who devote themselves to the health and welfare of
our young people; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 30th Anniversary of Strong Kids Safe Kids of Chemung County to
be recognized with a breakfast on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the
Holiday Inn Elmira, kicking off a yearlong celebration; and
WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and
organizations to be recognized for the significance of their contrib-
utions and efforts on behalf of young people and their futures; and
WHEREAS, Strong Kids Safe Kids (SKSK) of Chemung County is a mission-
based, volunteer, non-profit organization focused on building strong,
safe and healthy families by providing information on community services
and safety issues, while engaging children in fun educational activities
along with their families; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1984, Strong Kids Safe Kids began as a child
fingerprinting event sponsored by the Task Force on Children and Fami-
lies of Chemung County to reach out and connect families to information
and services to keep them safe; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Strong Kids Safe Kids Festival, the organization's
premier event, is a full day of educational activities and family enter-
tainment aimed at promoting awareness of children's health and safety
issues and the prevention of child abuse and neglect; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, hundreds of local organizations have joined
forces to volunteer their time, talent and treasure to create an excit-
ing and unique free event attended by thousands of area families and
children; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Strong Kids Safe Kids of Chemung
County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Strong Kids Safe Kids of Chemung County.
