LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Daniel Castellano upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2014 Humanitarian of the Year by the
Suffolk Chapter of the Cooley's Anemia Foundation
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Castellano has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Daniel Castel-
lano upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Huma-
nitarian of the Year by the Suffolk Chapter of the Cooley's Anemia Foun-
dation to be celebrated at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, New York, on
Friday, June 20, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Castellano has been selected for this most auspicious
honor for his humanitarianism and outstanding support on behalf of chil-
dren afflicted with Cooley's anemia, medically known as Thalassemia, and
for his years of generosity and dedication in assisting the Foundation
to find a cure for this fatal disease; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Castellano was born in Brooklyn, New York, but shortly
thereafter his parents, Paul and Florence, moved to Astoria, Queens; he
and his brother, Victor, attended St. Fidelis Grammar School and Mater
Christi High School; and
WHEREAS, Following graduation from Iona College where he received an
accounting degree, Daniel Castellano worked in the accounting industry
with small, medium and large firms; and
WHEREAS, After five years, Daniel Castellano decided to open his own
company; today, he is the Managing Partner at Castellano, Korenberg &
Company, specializing in profit planning and tax planning for closely-
held construction companies; he also possesses practical experience in
surety and banking credit enhancement, mergers and acquisitions and
financial negotiations; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Castellano has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Daniel Castellano has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, Daniel Castellano was presented with the Suffolk
County Man of the Year Award by the Boy Scouts of America; he has also
won numerous awards from the New York State Society of CPA's; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his three children, Daniel E.,
Matthew and Sofia, as well as his grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Daniel Castellano has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daniel Castellano upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Humanitarian of the Year by the Suffolk Chapter of the
Cooley's Anemia Foundation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daniel Castellano.
