LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Virginia DeJohn upon the occasion of
being named the 2013 Seneca County Woman of the Year by the Seneca Coun-
ty Women's Coalition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Virginia DeJohn has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Virginia
DeJohn upon the occasion of being named the 2013 Seneca County Woman of
the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition, to be celebrated at a
dinner held in her honor on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Hotel Gould,
Seneca Falls, New York; and
WHEREAS, Virginia DeJohn attended Mount Carmel High School and is a
graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo; she completed
her graduate studies at Geneseo and Elmira College; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has worked devotedly in the field of
Speech Pathology for over 46 distinguished years; and
WHEREAS, A strong member of her community, Virginia DeJohn is the
longest seated board member for the National Women's Hall of Fame, and
is a member and past President of the Seneca County Children's Commit-
tee; and
WHEREAS, An avid reader, Virginia DeJohn is active in two book groups,
The Women's Reading Club and the Red Tent Reading Group; and
WHEREAS, Along with friends, Virginia DeJohn instituted monthly BUNCO
games, proceeds from which benefit several non-profit groups within the
Seneca County community; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman has been called upon to contribute
her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Frank, and one
son, Matthew and his wife, Molly, as well as her two grandchildren,
Madeline and Anthony, all of whom feel privileged to share in her life
and take joy in her accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Virginia DeJohn upon the occasion of being named the 2013 Seneca
County Woman of the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Virginia DeJohn.
