LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Modesto "Mike" Chemotti upon the
occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize individ-
uals whose lives have been filled with remarkable experiences and with
family and friends who love and respect them; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Modesto "Mike" Chemotti upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Mike was born Modesto Chemotti on January 28, 1914, in
Solvay, New York, to Anibale and Caterina Chemotti, immigrants from the
Tyrol region of Austria, which is now part of Italy; he grew up and
remained close to his sister, Pia; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Solvay High School and Syracuse University,
Mike Chemotti was a walk-on for the Syracuse University football team in
1936, where he excelled both athletically and academically; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Mike Chemotti entered the
United States military; he honorably served our nation during World War
II, stationed in both North Africa and Italy; and
WHEREAS, Upon returning to Solvay from his service during World War
II, Mike Chemotti married the love of his life, Margaret Heverin of
Skaneateles Falls, New York, in early 1946; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Solvay, New York, Mike Chemotti worked
for Campbell Printing and Estabrook Printing in Syracuse, New York; he
was also the owner and operator of the Solvay Liquor Store; and
WHEREAS, Together, Mike and Margaret Chemotti had four beautiful chil-
dren, Dr. M. Thomas, Donald, Mary McArdle, and Charles; today, he is the
loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated and involved member of his community, Mike
Chemotti was very involved with the Westvale Solvay Steelers Pop Warner
Football League; he remains an active member of the Solvay Geddes Veter-
ans and the Tyrol Club, where he enjoys playing cards and having lunch
with friends; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends, and experi-
enced the incredible joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for
those with the stamina and courage to savor a full life; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Modesto "Mike" Chemotti upon the occasion of celebrating
his 100th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Modesto "Mike" Chemotti, and his family.
