LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending James Culbertson upon the occasion of
his retirement after 20 years of distinguished service as Livingston
County Clerk

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Our local governments, our State and our Nation have been
strengthened by generations of Americans who felt a sense of responsi-
bility to their community, to one an other and to their families; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
James Culbertson upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years of
distinguished service as Livingston County Clerk; he will officially
retire on December 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, For the past two decades, James Culbertson rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Livingston County, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues and community; and
WHEREAS, In January of 1986, James Culbertson began his commitment to
Livingston County by serving as a member of the Board of Supervisors;
and
WHEREAS, In 1995, James Culbertson was elected as Clerk of Livingston
County; prior to serving his capacity, James Culbertson was devoted to
his 25-year career at Eastman Kodak Company; and
WHEREAS, During his service as County Clerk, James Culbertson's aspi-
ration was to bring to his new position his corporate knowledge he
gained while employed at Eastman Kodak Company, this proved vital in
moving the office into the digital world; and
WHEREAS, He focused on streamlining work processes through implement-
ing modem technology within the department, which allowed his staff to
provide fast and efficient quality customer service to residents of
Livingston County; and
WHEREAS, To express thanks to Livingston County veterans, James
Culbertson implemented the Veterans Discount Card Program; today, there
are 130 Livingston County businesses participating and offering
discounts to the 1,000 veterans who have signed up for this vital
program; and
WHEREAS, In his retirement, James Culbertson plans to continue serving
his community as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Nicolas Noyes
Memorial Hospital, President of the Dansville Economic Development
Corporation, and as a member of the Dansville Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his family, children, and
grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which James Culbertson has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, A singular asset to all of the citizens he has served in the
community of the State of New York, James Culbertson's life and career
are a portrait of preeminence in public service, and presents a role
model for all who aspire to a career in public service; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend James Culbertson upon the occasion of his retirement after 20
years of distinguished service as Livingston County Clerk; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Culbertson.
