LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dominic Mainella upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2012 Golden Lion Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dominic
Mainella upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2012
Golden Lion Award; and
WHEREAS, Born, raised and educated in Troy, New York, Dominic Mainella
is President of Bella Napoli Italian Bakery, a family run business since
1957; and
WHEREAS, As the business expanded in 1961, his father, John, moved the
business to its current location at 721 River Street, Troy, New York; at
that time, he expanded his product line from bread and rolls to add
cookies, pastries and cake; and
WHEREAS, At an early age, Dominic Mainella had a very strong interest
in the business; he was always very involved, learning the many aspects
of owning and operating a bakery; and
WHEREAS, In 1982, the company expanded and opened the Bella Napoli
Bakery, Sandwich & Coffee Cafe on the corner of Watervliet Shaker Road
and Route 9 in Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, Today, Dominic Mainella, along with his parents, John and
Phyllis, his brothers, Geno and Mario, his sister, Victoria, and with
the help of truly loyal and dedicated staff, the Bella Napoli Italian
Bakery continues the tradition of providing the finest Italian breads,
cakes and pastries to the Capital Region; in 2012, the Bella Napoli
Bakery proudly celebrated its 55th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Roma Intangible Lodge No. 215, Brother
Dominic has always shown his dedication to the Order by helping with
cookie and pastry donations for the many charitable functions and activ-
ities held by the Lodge over the years; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife, Darleen, and
their three wonderful children, Jonathan, Michelle, and Michael, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dominic Mainella upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2012 Golden Lion Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dominic Mainella, President, Bella Napoli Bakery.
