LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Delaware County Attorney Richard Spinney
upon the occasion of his retirement

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
lives have been committed to the pursuit of excellence in their service
to the people of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Delaware County Attorney Richard Spinney upon the occasion of his
retirement; and
WHEREAS, After 23 years of dedicated service to Delaware County, Rich-
ard Spinney bid a fond farewell to public service upon his retirement in
December of 2012 and expressed his appreciation for being able to hold
the appointment for so long and be a part of the important work accom-
plished in the county over the last two decades; and
WHEREAS, Richard Spinney was thanked during the final meeting of the
Delaware County Board of Supervisors in 2012 by supervisors, department
heads and other county officials for his guidance, knowledge, friendship
and unique sense of humor throughout his tenure; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Bette Jayne who feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, and commitment as that demonstrated by
Richard Spinney over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Delaware County Attorney Richard Spinney upon the occasion of his
retirement; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard Spinney.
