LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Frank Douglas Scott,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Frank Scott of Freeport, New York died on Wednesday, November
7, 2012, at the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, The eldest child of Frank and Ernestine Scott, Frank Scott
was born in Manhattan on September 18, 1940; his parents then relocated
to Brooklyn where he grew up and later attended Boys High School and
went on to further his education at Pratt Institute; and
WHEREAS, After completing his education, Frank Scott pursued his
career in electronics and operation management; he was employed at Arrow
Electronics for over 25 years and later worked for Graingers as its
operation manager; all who knew him realized that he had chosen the
right career path because when he was in charge to manage any kind of
project or to assume any responsibility it was done professionally and
successfully; and
WHEREAS, In 1969, Frank Scott married Willa Walls and they began their
life together by settling in Freeport; they spent 43 beautiful years of
life together traveling, socializing and later working together in help-
ing to form a better community and school district; and
WHEREAS, After retiring from a long career in operation management,
Frank Scott applied his skills and began investigating and confronting
the issues within the Roosevelt School District; he had a passion for
serving the children of Roosevelt and was highly concerned for the
students he felt were being denied a quality education; in addition, he
was an elected trustee on the school board whose focus and aim was to
successfully maintain the budget; and
WHEREAS, Frank Scott was faithful to his church and very instrumental
with fund-raising activities; he worked diligently with his ministries
and loved his church family; he served as the head usher and truly
enjoyed meeting, greeting and welcoming people into his church family;
and
WHEREAS, Frank Scott distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Frank Scott's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents and only sibling, Lynn, Frank
Scott is survived by his wife, Willa, his son, Dwayne, two grandchil-
dren, his aunt Louisa, six nieces, six nephews, and numerous family
members and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Frank Scott leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Frank Douglas Scott, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Frank Douglas Scott.
