LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ upon
the occasion of her induction into the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of
Fame

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ upon the occasion of her induction into
the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame; this auspicious occasion will
be celebrated at the Academy's Fleur de Lys Dinner Dance, to be held on
Wednesday, May 1, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy is an all-girls, private, Roman
Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York; it was established in 1937
by the Sisters of St. Joseph, and is located within the Roman Catholic
Diocese of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, A Pastoral Associate at St. Joan of Arc Church in Jackson
Heights, New York, Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ was born in Bay Ridge,
Brooklyn, New York, and attended St. Patrick's School and then Bishop
Kearney High School; and
WHEREAS, In 1965, Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ entered the Congregation
of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and attended Brentwood College; she
continued her education at Fordham University and Xavier University in
New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ has been an elementary school
teacher in the Brooklyn Diocese and has served as a Director of Reli-
gious Education and as a Pastoral Associate in both the Diocese of
Brooklyn and the Diocese of Rockville Centre; and
WHEREAS, From 2006 to 2012, Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ served on the
Fontbonne Hall Academy Board of Trustees, proving to be an invaluable
member of the Mission Committee; and
WHEREAS, Much of Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ's work has been in adult
formation, serving as an instructor for the RVC Pastoral Institute and
the Brooklyn Institute; she has an interest in the multicultural reality
of communities and the ministry of the Church in such settings; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Sister Maryann McHugh,
CSJ has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned
the respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ upon the occasion of her
induction into the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sister Maryann McHugh, CSJ.
