LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring R. Mark Sullivan upon the occasion of
his induction into the Tech Valley Business Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and ener-
gies to the service of their community and profession, participating in
civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor R.
Mark Sullivan upon the occasion of his induction into the Tech Valley
Business Hall of Fame; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at
the organization's annual Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony, to
be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Albany Marriott Hotel in Colo-
nie, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Tech Valley Business Hall of Fame is co-sponsored by the
Center for Economic Growth and Junior Achievement of Northeastern New
York, Inc.; it celebrates the accomplishments of remarkable members of
the local community who are champions of free enterprise and whose dedi-
cation make the Tech Valley region a better place to live and work; and
WHEREAS, Induction into the Tech Valley Business Hall of Fame is a
preeminent business award in the Capital District region; honorees
chosen to receive the award are part of an illustrious group, living and
deceased, who are noted not only for their leadership in enhancing free
enterprise but also for their contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, The former president and director of the Institute for Lead-
ership in Higher Education at The College of Saint Rose, R. Mark Sulli-
van served as the college's eighth president from 1996 to 2012; and
WHEREAS, R. Mark Sullivan holds a doctorate in education from Harvard
University and a master's in public administration from Syracuse Univer-
sity, as well as a bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode
Island; and
WHEREAS, Previously, R. Mark Sullivan was executive vice president and
chief operating officer at Marist College; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, R. Mark Sullivan has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which R. Mark Sullivan has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor R. Mark Sullivan upon the occasion of his induction into the Tech
Valley Business Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to R. Mark Sullivan.
