LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr., D.D.S.,
upon the occasion of his 30th Pastoral Anniversary, to be celebrated on
May 20, 2013

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Bishop Eric
R. Figueroa, Sr., D.D.S., upon the occasion of his 30th Pastoral Anni-
versary; this impressive milestone will be feted at a Pearl Celebration
Banquet in his honor on Monday, May 20, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr. is a native of Brooklyn, New
York; he holds doctoral degrees in both Divinity and Theology; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, Bishop Eric R. Figueroa founded New Life Tabernacle,
Inc., a ministry that uniquely forges interdenominational relationships,
and strives to eradicate spiritual stereotypes; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Eric Figueroa is also a philanthropic leader; in 1998
he founded the Family Life Development Center, Inc., a non profit commu-
nity development agency designed to provide an array of services to
transform the lives of individuals and neighborhoods; services include
food and clothing, drug rehabilitation, youth and family initiatives,
mentoring programs, a Life Skills Teaching curriculum, counseling,
college prep, a scholarship fund, and senior citizen programs; and
WHEREAS, In 2009 Bishop Eric Figueroa founded, and is the Presiding
Prelate of, the New Life Covenant Fellowship, an assemblage of interden-
ominational pastors, churches and ministries that seeks to equip, enable
and empower a new generation of leaders in pursuit of excellence in
ministry; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Eric Figueroa is a Founding Member of Brooklyn Congre-
gations Together, the mission of which is to bring together church
pastors and their congregations in a collaborative effort to address
holistically the needs of Brooklyn residents; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Eric R. Figueroa has brought to his ministry an over-
whelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Evangelist Doreen
Figueroa, his children, Evangelist Timiney Figueroa-Caton, Missionary
Anaysha Figueroa-Cooper and Deacon Eric Jr., and three grandchildren,
Quincy, Miles, and Ella, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr., D.D.S., upon the occasion of his

30th Pastoral Anniversary, noting his unremitting and compassionate
faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his community, and
extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legislative Body for
a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr., D.D.S.
