LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Congregation Eitz Chaim upon the occa-
sion of hosting its Annual Journal and Dinner Dance on May 19, 2013, and
applauding the honorees of the evening

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in New York State are greatly
enriched by the faithful and generous service of those who devote them-
selves to endeavors of family, faith, and community; and
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this nation to pay
tribute to institutions and individuals who have contributed to the
ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commending Congre-
gation Eitz Chaim upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Journal and
Dinner Dance to be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1975 by a handful of families in a house on
Spring Street in Monroe, New York, Congregation Eitz Chaim has grown to
a community of more than 140 families; and
WHEREAS, Affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism,
Congregation Eitz Chaim is an engaging and dedicated egalitarian,
conservative congregation devoted to fostering a genuinely warm Jewish
community; and
WHEREAS, At this year's Annual Journal and Dinner Dance, Congregation
Eitz Chaim proudly honors distinguished members whose generosity of both
time and substance have brought comfort and strength to Congregation
Eitz Chaim and to countless charitable causes and worthy endeavors in
support of their faith and their community; and
WHEREAS, This year, Congregation Eitz Chaim will proudly and fittingly
pay tribute to Diane and Marty Soss; and
WHEREAS, Remaining faithful to its mission of serving its congre-
gation, its community and Judaism, Congregation Eitz Chaim and the hono-
rees of the evening may look with pride and satisfaction upon their
purposeful service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to Congregation Eitz Chaim and to Diane and Marty Soss for their
dedication and commitment to Congregation Eitz Chaim, their community
and their heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Congregation Eitz Chaim upon the occasion of hosting its Annual
Journal and Dinner Dance on May 19, 2013, and to applaud the honorees of
the evening; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Congregation Eitz Chaim and to the honorees of the evening,
Diane and Marty Soss.
