LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti, of Auburn, New York, died on
Friday, July 20, 2012, at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, A life resident of Auburn, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti was a
graduate of Auburn High School, Class of 1939, and the Auburn Business
School; and
WHEREAS, She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church where she was a
member of the Rosary and Scapular Society and volunteered her services
in every capacity imaginable for the parish; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti distinguished herself in her
profession and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, When her first husband, Sam Vasile, the owner of Finger Lakes
Bottling, died at the age of 61, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti took the
reins of the company and grew it into not only a leading Auburn busi-
ness, but an organization to help support the many causes that she was
known for; and
WHEREAS, As a business woman in a world where it was the norm for men
to be the head of companies, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti made an extra
effort to not only be a role model to women in business, but also a
mentor; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, includ-
ing charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti was a past national and state pres-
ident of the Italian-American War Veterans, and a member of Zonta Inter-
national, Freedom Recreational Services, Big Brother and Big Sister, the
American Heart Association, and Sons of Italy, as well as many other
organizations; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her first husband, Sam Vasile, second husband,
Francis "Red" Pisciotti, her parents, Valentino and Rachael Emperato
Sperduti, a brother, Carl Sperduti and stepson-in-law, Domenic DeTomaso,
Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti is survived by three sons, Louis (Denise)
Vasile, Thomas (Karen) Vasile, and Sam (Renee) Vasile; two daughters,
Elaine Frost and Anne Marie (Rob) Byrd; stepson, Tony (Helen) Pisciotti;
one stepdaughter, Joanne DeTomaso; and 19 grandchildren, Lisa Mizro, Sam
Frost, Tim, John, Louie and Jenna Vasile, Beth Ann Silvestri and Thomas
Vasile Jr., Jason, Sam, Janie and Robbie Byrd and Sammy Vasile Jr.,
Nick, Andy and David Pisciotti, Steven, Marc and Andrea DeTomaso; 17
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Mary Ann Vasile Pisciotti.
