LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Amy K. Dacey upon the occasion of her
designation as 2013 Inductee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction,
on June 6, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Amy
K. Dacey upon the occasion of her designation as 2013 Inductee into the
Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction; the Induction Ceremony will take
place on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Emerson Park Pavilion in Auburn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction was established in 2012
by the Auburn Education Foundation to recognize, honor and celebrate
graduates who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academ-
ic, professional, or civic achievements and to inspire current students
to pursue a path towards personal success; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular merit, Amy K. Dacey, Auburn High Class of
1989, has continually demonstrated tremendous competence, extraordinary
intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to both
her community and her profession and consequently has been selected for
this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Amy K. Dacey is the Executive Director of EMILY's List, a
national organization dedicated to engaging women in the political proc-
ess; founded in 1985, the organization has two million members and,
during 2011-2012, helped an historic number of women candidates to poli-
tical office; and
WHEREAS, Prior to working with EMILY's List, Amy Dacey worked for the
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) where she served as the
Director of Government Relations; during her illustrious tenure, she
created the department's strategic plan and managed the Legislative,
Policy, Intergovernmental and Executive Branch Outreach Departments of
the union; and
WHEREAS, Amy Dacey has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, She currently serves as Chairwoman of the Board of the Ameri-
can Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), a nonpartisan non-go-
vernmental organization internationally recognized as the pre-eminent
catalyst for introducing rising political and policy professionals to
international affairs, and to each other; and
WHEREAS, Amy Dacey earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science and
History from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1993, and
a master's degree in Political Science from the American University in
Washington, D.C. in 1995; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Amy K. Dacey upon the occasion of her designation as 2013 Inductee
into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Amy K. Dacey.
