LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Thomas F. Hanley upon the occasion of
his retirement as General Manager and President of WPBS

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives serve to enhance the stature of the State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Thomas F.
Hanley upon the occasion of his retirement as General Manager and Presi-
dent of WPBS, a public broadcasting station serving Northern New York
and Ontario, Canada; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with WPBS, Thomas F. Hanley continually
shaped and helped evolve public broadcasting operations throughout the
North Country for over 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Thomas F. Hanley also successfully engaged WPBS employees and
volunteers in fundraising efforts to transform the public broadcasting
station from an analog to a digital format to provide more than half a
million Northern New York and southern Ontario residents with a more
vivid source of information; and
WHEREAS, Thomas F. Hanley spearheaded efforts in the development of
the James W. Wright Community Center, which provides meeting facilities,
free of charge, to local organizations; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Thomas F. Hanley served with loyalty, honor
and distinction, was governed by a keen sense of duty, and always showed
a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with WPBS, Thomas F. Hanley earned the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas F. Hanley, upon the occasion of his retirement as General
Manager and President of WPBS; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas F. Hanley.
