LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital upon the
occasion of hosting its Leadership Reception and applauding the honorees
of the evening

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital upon the occasion of hosting its Leadership
Reception and to applaud the honorees of the evening, on Wednesday,
January 30, 2013, at the Roundhouse at Beacon Falls in Beacon, New York;
and
WHEREAS, On this most auspicious occasion, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospi-
tal will proudly pay tribute to the following individuals in honor of
their remarkable professional and personal service to their community:
Douglas J. Hovey, Chairman, Hospital, Board of Trustees; James F.
Letterio, Jr., Foundation, Board of Directors; Robert Marino, Jr.,
Hospital, Board of Trustees; Mark T. Starkman, Esq., Foundation, Board
of Directors; and
WHEREAS, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital
dedicated to serving the health care needs of those in the Hudson
Valley; and
WHEREAS, In January 2002, St. Luke's Hospital and The Cornwall Hospi-
tal merged to create an integrated health care delivery system, provid-
ing quality comprehensive health care services; and
WHEREAS, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital was the first hospital in the
region to earn New York State Stroke Center designation, and has one of
the newest Emergency Departments in the region; and
WHEREAS, A recent renovation and expansion of the Kaplan Family Center
for Emergency Medicine at the Newburgh campus, and the Littman Center
for Emergency Medicine at the Cornwall campus, has resulted in state-of-
the-art facilities designed for patient comfort and convenience; and
WHEREAS, General trauma bays and specialty treatment bays for cardiac,
asthma, women's health and pediatrics enable St. Luke's Cornwall Hospi-
tal's highly skilled ER team to provide comprehensive, quality care in a
patient-centered environment; and
WHEREAS, Each year this illustrious organization cares for more than
270,000 patients from around the Hudson Valley; with 1,500 employees,
the hospital is one of the largest employers in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, With its skilled and dedicated staff, modern facilities, and
state-of-the-art treatment, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital is committed to
meeting the needs of the community and continuing to aspire to excel-
lence; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital upon the occasion of hosting its
Leadership Reception and to applaud the honorees of the evening; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital and the aforementioned honorees.
