LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Stephen Dunn upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition as Honoree by the Boards of
Trustees of Columbia Memorial Hospital and the Columbia-Greene Hospital
Foundation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Stephen Dunn upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition as Honoree by the Boards of Trustees of Columbia Memorial
Hospital and the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the 25th Annual Columbia Memorial Hospi-
tal Ball, to be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013; and
WHEREAS, An invaluable member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Board
of Trustees since 2003, Stephen Dunn was its chairman from 2007 to 2010;
and
WHEREAS, During his tenure on the Board of Trustees of Columbia Memo-
rial Hospital, Stephen Dunn has served the Hospital most admirably,
sharing his experience and expertise as a prominent business leader; he
brings a certain purposeful tenacity to his role as a Trustee; as Chair,
he inspires with sheer grit and determination; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Dunn, a graduate of Hartwick College, is the former
owner and Chief Executive Officer of Dunn Builders Supply, with retail
locations in Catskill, Hudson and Chatham, New York; and
WHEREAS, With a long history of civic involvement and leadership,
Stephen Dunn has devoted his time and talent to many local causes and
endeavors; in addition to his service to Columbia Memorial Hospital, he
currently sits on the Board of Cedar Grove and the Thomas Cole National
Historic Site; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Stephen Dunn has been a member of the Catskill
Rotary for many years, he served as its President from 1976-77; he also
proudly served as President of the New York State Retail Hardware Asso-
ciation and the Eastern New York Retail Lumber Dealers Association, and
is a former Board Member and part owner of Spruce Computer Corporation;
and
WHEREAS, Born in Catskill, New York, where he resides today with his
wife, Jackie, Stephen Dunn is the father of four daughters, Jennifer,
Jessica, Allison and India; he also has 12 grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Stephen Dunn has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the respect
and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stephen Dunn has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stephen Dunn upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition as Honoree by the Boards of Trustees of Columbia
Memorial Hospital and the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephen Dunn.
