LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Robert Deemie, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert Deemie of Johnson City, New York, died on Saturday,
June 30, 2012, at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, Robert Deemie distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, A retired quality assurance manager with 37 years of service
at IBM Corporation, Robert Deemie was a member of the company's Quarter
Century Club; he was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the
United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Robert Deemie was a member of the Johnson City Knights of
Columbus Council 2953 holding many offices within the council, including
Grand Knight; he was past President of the Ancient Order of the Hiberni-
ans, member of the Johnson City American Legion Post 758, former CYO
basketball coach, women's basketball coach, and basketball referee; and
WHEREAS, A member of St. James Church in Johnson City, Robert Deemie
was a Scoutmaster for Troop 103; he was also Grand Marshal of the St.
Patrick's Day Parade in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Robert Deemie's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Robert Deemie is survived by his loving wife, Meryl, his
children, Gregory, Steve, and Joann; ten grandchildren, Bob, Chris, Tim,
Dan, Justin, Ashley, Jessie, Donna, James and Michael, three great-
grandchildren, Evan, Scarlett and Renner, his brother, Arthur, several
nieces, nephews, and cousins; close friends, Roger and Carolyn Doolit-
tle, Jim and Carol Ryan; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Robert Deemie leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Robert Deemie, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Robert Deemie.
