LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Jane Ann Darling, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Jane Ann (Van Dusen) Darling of Apalachin, New York, died on
Thursday, September 6, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Jane Ann Darling's accomplishments in life include graduating
from the Robert Packer School of Nursing in 1958, and the successful
ownership for nearly 40 years of Darling Tax Service in Apalachin, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Jane Ann Darling distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding woman was also a charter member and the
first president of the New York State Chapter of the NATP and was
instrumental in starting a local tax practitioners group; she traveled
the state and country teaching Federal and New York State tax prepara-
tion; and
WHEREAS, Jane Ann Darling's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Jane Ann Darling served as President of the former Owego
Business and Professional Women's Club as well as their District VI
Director; at one time, she was active in the Toastmaster's Organization;
and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her parents, Lyle J. and Evangeline Ruth Van
Dusen and best friend and sister, Vicki Diane Prentice, Jane Ann Darling
is survived by her three loving children, Vicki Darling, David Darling
and Kelly (Darling) Hawkins; and three grandchildren, Michael Darling,
Kristi (Hawkins) Mann and TJ Hawkins, as well as several nieces and
nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jane Ann Darling leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Jane Ann Darling, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Jane Ann Darling.
