LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Lynn B. Carpenter, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Lynn B. Carpenter of Binghamton, New York died on Sunday,
October 28, 2012, at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, A decorated United States Army veteran, Lynn B. Carpenter was
a member of the 18th Infantry Regiment Of The Infantry Division in the
European Theatre during World War II; he was honored to be part of the
Big Red 1; and
WHEREAS, Lynn B. Carpenter distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Lynn B. Carpenter worked as a self-employed carpenter, and
security officer for Vail-Ballou Manufacturing; and
WHEREAS, Lynn B. Carpenter's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, Lynn B.
Carpenter was a Boy Scout Leader, founding member of the Town Of Bing-
hamton Rifle and Pistol Club, Pierce Creek Community Association, Town
Of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Company, Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post
1611, and Broome County Veterans Memorial Association; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife Mary, sister June, and great-grand-
daughter Shontae, Lynn B. Carpenter is survived by his children, Terry
(Marilyn Clark), Linda Caviness, Dale (Ani), Wayne (Patty), Debbie
(Greg) Martinez, Nancy (David) Minster, Cheryl (Mike Lanuti), Jill
(Dave) Francis; grandchildren Tod, Nichole, Crystal (Jessica), Jodie
(Joshua), Curtis (Courtney), Colene, Christian (Brandon), Staci (Mike),
Sarah E. (Tim), Sarah A., Kim (Adam), Holly (Scott), Andrew (Heather),
Terry, Hannah, Bethany; great-grandchildren Devan, Ariana, Joshua, Ange-
lina, Taylor, Bryant, Carter, Alexander, Dakota, Joel, Gabriel, Liam,
Demitri, Elias, Colston, Shane, plus two more on the way; sister Betty
(Harry) Urban; and many nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Lynn B. Carpenter leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Lynn B. Carpenter, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Lynn B. Carpenter.
