LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Phil Brady upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the
Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Phil
Brady upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick Valley Boys
Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School District;
the Warwick Valley High School Boys Basketball Program held their 5th
Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 17, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Phil Brady is a member of the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Hall of Fame Class of 2014; this outstanding athlete's efforts, commit-
ment, and past accomplishments on the hardwood have helped shape the
history of the Wildcats, Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Team; and
WHEREAS, A 1958 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Phil Brady was
a three-year varsity basketball player from 1955 to 1958, and a two-year
starter for the Wildcats, playing under Hall of Fame Coach Vito Magde-
linskas; and
WHEREAS, In 1957-58, Phil Brady helped lead his basketball team to an
outstanding record of 17-3, and the Section A Orange County League Cham-
pionship; during this year, he also led the Wildcats to a stunning upset
against perennial powerhouse Port Jervis High School in the Section IX
semi-finals by a score of 70-69; and
WHEREAS, Known for his rugged style of play, Phil Brady was one of the
top defensive players in both the Orange County League and Section IX,
and led his team in rebounding during both his junior and senior years;
and
WHEREAS, An all-around exceptional basketball player, Phil Brady could
score, rebound, defend, and pass, and in many games led the team in
rebounds, assists, and scoring; and
WHEREAS, His most well-known basketball moment was beating Port Jervis
High School in a 1958 Section IX play-off game; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Phil Brady provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-ath-
letes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Phil Brady has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth of
the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the communi-
ty-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Phil Brady upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Phil Brady.
